State of drift - Indian Express
State of drift - Indian Express
Two years ago the Centre tried to buy peace, and a termination of Chandrasekhar Rao’s fast, by indicating its commitment to Telangana. In the months after, as the Congress, as the party in government at the Centre and in the state, struggled to manage competing demands of those for and against separate statehood, the formation of the Srikrishna committee calmed tempers substantially. The committee’s report, in fact, provided a valuable opportunity to engage all strands of opinion in Andhra Pradesh — it detailed the options on the table, and dwelt on the various ways in which Hyderabad’s status, the crux of so much anxiety for votaries and opponents of Telangana, could be addressed for the greater common good. Unfortunately, that precious opportunity has been allowed to keep slipping away, and once again the Telangana agitation is simmering over.

Best-selling speaker
Best-selling speaker: "Aabhas Sharma finds that Chetan Bhagat the motivational speaker is as popular as Bhagat the novelist.
Chetan Bhagat’s books have sold in millions, and his new book, Revolution 2020, is eagerly anticipated by his readers. Critics may turn up their nose, but his novels strike a chord with the young and the restless. He is also gaining traction as a commentator, on television as well as print, on current issues. The third hat he wears is of a motivational speaker. He has been invited by corporations like Bharti, Citibank, HCL and many others to give a pep talk to their employees."
